NOTE: This server is only available to students currently enrolled in College of Engineering courses.

WindowsRemote.engineering.iastate.edu is accessed using a Remote Desktop Connection client.  Links for clients are listed below:

• Microsoft Windows Vista
  • Windows Vista has a built-in Remote Desktop Connection client.
  • The shortcut for the client is at Start --> All Programs --> Accessories --> Remote Desktop Connection
• Microsoft Windows XP
  • Windows XP requires an updated client.  The updated client can be downloaded from the following link: Remote Desktop Connection (Terminal Services Client 6.1) for Windows XP (KB952155)
  • After installation, the shortcut for the client is at Start --> All Programs --> Accessories --> Remote Desktop Connection
• Apple Macintosh
  • Microsoft Remote Desktop Connection Client for Mac 2
• Linux
  • rdesktop: An open source Remote Desktop Protocol Client
    

• Access the remote server from a computer that has a broadband connection.
• To access local resources from your computer, we recommend enabling these features of the Remote Desktop Connection client.

• Start the Remote Desktop Connection Client.
• Enter the server name:
  windowsremote.engineering.iastate.edu
• When asked for a username, enter your ISU NetID as follows:
  iastate\netid

When you are finished using software, please Log Off of the server:

If you Lock or disconnect instead of logging off, your connection will be forced to logoff after 24 hours.  Any open files will not be saved.
