Engineering Mail List Server
The College of Engineering runs a sophisticated email list server. Email lists can be created for any number of uses, including:
- Groups and Clubs
- Committees
- Mass Communication

Engineering Student Email Lists
The College of Engineering maintains several email lists of students for discretionary use. Each list contains thousands of email recipients.
Guidelines for using the email lists:
- Consider the audience: your message is only appropriate for the list if a large majority of the recipients will respond to it.
- Do not include attachments. Attachments will create chaos for the ISU email system, which will affect the entire campus. If you need the recipients to receive a file, put the file on a website and send a URL to that file.
- Don’t include a lot of fancy formatting. You have no way of knowing what the message will look like in any given student’s inbox.
- If you have a question, contact your local IT person or ECSS at ecss@iastate.edu.
Mass email is a precious resource. People have been desensitized to mass emails and usage of this resource should remain as sparse as possible. These lists will become ineffective if they are overused.
