Summary
This document contains the ENGR NetID Policy as it relates to the activation, deactivation, and removal of accounts and associated files for ENGR NetID.
This policy may be updated from time to time.
Activation of Accounts
Accounts of the following types and purposes may be created within CLUE:
- Engineering faculty
- Engineering staff
- Engineering students (full-time, part-time, and off-campus)
- Non-engineering students enrolled in at least one Engineering course
- Non-engineering instructors teaching engineering courses
- Sponsored accounts
The following accounts are not acceptable:
- Accounts that are shared and considered ?generic? (i.e. a student worker account for multiple students to share in an office), the exception being temporary accounts for guest lab users (i.e. outreach activities).
- Accounts for non-engineering students who are not enrolled in an engineering course for the current semester
The procedure to obtain an account is as follows:
- Accounts are generated from enrollment lists available prior to the start of semester. Updates to these lists are made again two weeks into the semester.
- Faculty or staff may request accounts be created if necessary from class enrollment lists by sending the class list to their departmental CLUE support staff.
- Students can request an account using the on-line form Request a New CLUE Account.
Deactivation of Accounts
Accounts are deactivated under any of the following circumstances:
- A staff member leaves the college
- Non-engineering students are no longer enrolled in engineering courses
An engineering student has not been enrolled at ISU for one semester (due to graduation, dismissal, departure, etc.)
- Any user that has been identified by ?due process? (TBD) as violating the governing rules, regulations, and code associated with computing.
The deactivation process will follow this procedure:
- Student accounts that are no longer listed in the EDT5 download have their account status changed to DEACTIVATED. The account data is maintained, but the user cannot log in.
- Faculty/staff accounts are removed when they are no longer have a University NetID, unless requested to remain active by a department or college administration.
Removal
Accounts are removed from the system according to the following rules:
- Student accounts that no longer have a University NetID are removed.
- Faculty/staff accounts are removed when they no longer have a University NetID, unless requested to remain active by a department or college administration.
- Account data is maintained in an archive for one year after the account is removed.
Other Account Actions
Account passwords will be changed under the following rules:
- A user presents an acceptable picture-ID to an authorized administrator
- A user completes the appropriate web form (Request a Password Change), submitting the request.
Quotas will be administered under local departmental control.
We reserve the right to take any action necessary to maintain the integrity of the CLUE system.
