Door prizes and give-aways were provided by Dell, Apple, and the College of Engineering.
Thank you for supporting the students of the College of Engineering!
More than 150 students turned out in freezing temperatures for pizza, pop, and the chance at dozens of door prizes, including an Apple iPod Nano, a Dell All-in-one printer, and the grand prize of a Nintendo Wii -- all in order to have some candid conversations about the computing environment in the College of Engineering. Joined by more than 20 full-time and part-time IT staff in the college, the 60 minute forum featured questions and answers on all topics that affect students who use the College of Engineering's computer laboratories.
Students completed a short survey and provided some valuable feedback about their expectations for the computing environment. The results of the numeric portion of the survey have been summarized and are available for viewing. A summary of the open-ended questions is planned and will be available soon.
IT staff were delighted with the turn-out and participation by students, and they found the information gathered to be very valuable in the decision-making process with the upcoming fee-allocation process.
Given the response, it's highly likely that future forums will be held.
Story developing.
During the coming weeks staff will be reviewing feedback from the Open Forum and identifying action plans to address specific needs. Key action items will be listed here as they are developed.
