Lab Supervisors ensure that our labs are operating at peak efficiency. They are the first line of contact for students and instructors in the use of labs, maintaining security, answering a wide variety of challenging software/hardware questions and keeping a safe and comfortable learning/working environment for all users. The successful applicant will have a passion for working with others and a willingness to work as a team to cover weekend and evening hours. Students from any discipline are encouraged to apply their service-oriented values in this position.
The JSSS is the proverbial 'jack-of-all-trades' working with an everchanging variety of challenges from hardware to software to end-user support. Typically found in the department, the JSSS, under the supervision of the System Support Specialist, works closely with faculty, staff, and students to remove any IT barriers that prevent users from achieving success through the use of IT. We select students who posses outstanding communication skills, have a passion for solving broad and obscure problems and who enjoy seeing others succeed with technology.
The JWAD takes complex problems and provides solutions via web-based applications using a wide array of programming tools and environments including ASP, VB/VB.Net, PHP, Perl, Typo3, SharePoint Services, and many others. We select students with intense analytical abilities who have a passion for solving complex problems using well-organized approaches. Knowledge of basic programming and databases is necessary. The ideal candidate will be a sophomore enrolled in Engineering, Computer Science, or Management Information Systems.
As a member of an elite team supporting one of the largest networks in the State of Iowa, the JWSA develops leading-edge installation and management solutions to provide the most efficient and effective IT environment on campus. Using advanced techniques and skills, the JWSA delivers solutions that empower faculty, staff, and students to be successful in teaching, research, outreach, and administration. We select the brightest and most analytical students from Engineering, Computer Science, and MIS for these challenging positions.
The JU/LSA works with some of the most advanced hardware and software on the planet! Under the supervision of a full-time staff mentor, the JU/LSA works as a member of an elite team to design, develop, and implement innovative and creative techniques for managing the complex combinations of hardware and software that empower instructors, researchers, and students to develop world-class engineering solutions. Freshmen and sophomores in Engineering, Computer Science, and Management Information Systems are the most desirable for these positions at the entry-level.
