The ISU NetID allows users to access the basic computing services offered by Iowa State University. These resources include:

- AFS File Storage
- Personal web space (via www.public.iastate.edu)
- Campus-wide printing
- NetReg access to the ISU network
Users affiliated with the College of Engineering are entitled to an expanded set of services:
- Logon access to any engineering computing lab
- Expanded file storage
- Remote shell and file access
- IMAP email services
- Jabber Instant Messaging
- Webspace
- Coursework and research temporary storage
